Fireworks can be sold in the City of Omaha from June 28th through July 4th each year ONLY with a city issued permit.

Fireworks applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office and are only accepted between January 2nd and January 31st of the same year which the permit is sought.

The Fireworks Committee can approve a maximum of 40 applications each year.  The approval is done in a public meeting at the end of February or the beginning of March.  There is a $2,500.00 permit fee (includes $500 a temporary Certificate of Occupancy) that must be made within ten (10) days following approval from this Committee. Also at the time of payment, approved applicants must submit a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $300,000 per occurrence, $1,000,000 general aggregate, listing the City of Omaha as an additional insured. 

Approved applicants must contact the Permits & Inspection Division of the Planning Department at (402) 444-5350 at least ten (10) days prior to June 28th.  Inspections will then take place two to three (2 to 3) days prior to June 28th.
